CDC: Blackfeet Nation’s Use of Stay-at-Home Orders and Mask Mandates Helped Control COVID-19 Transmission

A new CDC report finds implementation and strict enforcement of stay-at-home orders and public mask requirements were associated with a 33-fold decrease in the rate of new COVID-19 cases in the Blackfeet Tribal Reservation in Montana.

The report emphasizes that “the steep declines in COVID-19 incidence in the Blackfeet Tribal Reservation might not have occurred without widespread and consistent enforcement of the mandate for mask use in public and stay-at-home orders. ”
